On a tranquil Thursday evening, I was confronted in my garage by four young men who demanded my car keys. Before I could respond, they forcefully knocked me to the ground. However, they were unprepared for the presence of my two 280-pound Pit Bulls—rescue dogs that were gentle companions to me but fierce protectors when the situation called for it.
As the intruders made their way into my home, my dogs sprang into action, growling menacingly. The assailants were thrown into disarray, with one stumbling in his haste to flee. My dogs remained by my side, ensuring I was unharmed.
While Pit Bulls often carry a reputation for being aggressive, mine proved to be my saviors that night. If you are considering bringing a dog into your life, I encourage you to think about adopting a rescue; they may very well become your protectors as well.
